Distinguishing Features: Facial Scar, Dreadlocks, Face Paint

"Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid." ~ Han Solo

Xei looked like your typical Chiss. Bright blue skin, stunning red eyes and navy blue hair. She was rather lean in build, though it was difficult to tell beneath the bulky layers of her armor. The only real outstanding features the Chiss carried were a gnarled scar crossing from above her eyebrow, over the bridge of her nose, to the base of her jaw, the fact that her hair had been worn in dreadlocks since as early as anyone can remember and the constant adornment of deep red face paint across her eyes and lips. Beyond those three things, Xei was rather typical. Perhaps to some she would be perceived as "pretty," but for the most part that was buried beneath her rough exterior and snide jabs rather quickly.

Early Life

Xei's story ran parallel to many others born into the Outer Rim. Pure and simple, the young Chiss was born out of the chains of slavery. Being Chiss and having a father with a heavy gambling addiction set the stage for a tragic beginning. While Xei herself is unsure of the exact specifics of how her family and herself became involved with the Hutts and the slave trade itself, the outcome was the foundation of her young life and later lead to her career choices. The details of her existence were so vague, in fact, that the young Chiss is to this day still unaware of even her name beyond the shortened version she uses today.

One of Xei's earliest memories is the beginnings of her training as a cantina dancer. At the ripe age of six years old, her studies of dance began. She was to be groomed and prepped for her future, but with an unfortunate change of events, even that didn't come to fruition. In a lost bet between her owner and a Rodian of despicable background, Xei's ownership was transferred. While being of one of the prettier exotic races, the Rodian named Vergo Mikda was rather happy with his young prize. Unfortunately for Xei, the scoundrel had no idea how to deal with children or really even how to deal with owning a slave.

This led to the following years of her early life being wracked with neglect. While Vergo wasn't particularly a violent owner, his means of punishment for his property was often more brutal than that of even the Hutts. Being a willful young thing, Xei was often subjected to bouts of starvation, shock treatment and solitary confinement.

It was during one of these bouts after Xei accidentally spilled a basket full of vakiir eggs, her day of liberation finally came. Unknown to Xei at the time, Vego's days were drawing to an end. He had conned the wrong Bith. A bounty had been put on his head and the hired gun to fulfill this bargain had come.

Finding them at their home just outside of Mos Eisley, a rather large Rattataki hunter known only by the name of "Girth," was Xei's unlikely rescuer. After the fight began and all was said and done, Girth hovered over his kill still high on the wave of fresh blood. That high immediately dropped as he heard the rather small voice of Xei chime in, "Excuse me!"

The child climbed out from beneath a pile of soiled rags she had taken cover in, staring with wide, red eyes up at the Rattataki. "Can you help me?" She rather politely asked, tugging at the shock collar donning her neck. Girth stared blankly down at Xei, who at this point was no older than nine years old. He looked to the child, then to the door, then back to the child and after a prolonged moment the behemoth of a young man sighed and said simply, "Alright."

From that point on, the two were inseparable. Girth trained Xei in the use of weaponry and basic hand to hand combat. Xei was a quick learner and soon was begging her surrogate father to allow her to come along on one of his hunts. After about two months of a consistent chorus of, "Please, Girth? Please, Girth? Please, Girth?" the Rattataki gave in.

It was a simple kill. A Snivvian last located on Taris. After tracking the boar-like man to a remote camp, the two descended and Xei's first kill was earned at the age of 13. Even Girth was impressed by how professionally Xei had handled herself as well as how smoothly the kill went. After that, Xei was hooked. The rush and the adventure of the hunt was now her sole priority in life.

Of course, not all of the future hunts went as well. It was her third hunt that earned her the rather gnarled scar that to this day mars her face. While Xei may have been a hunter, her bleeding heart tended to get the best of her. So, when she found out that her target had a wife currently with child, she hesitated. This only led to a vibroknife to the face and two dead Aqualish at her feet. It was shortly after Xei learned two things: Aqualish lay eggs and the couple were not expecting children. Lesson learned.

Current History and Status

Roving the galaxy, Xei still remains at Girth's side. The two continue their work spanning generally along the Outer Rim. Beyond that, it's business as usual. Jobs come in, jobs go out.

As of late, the pair have found themselves entrenched in bad business concerning one of Xei's long lost ex-lovers and Imperial Intelligence. While having no prior knowledge to any sort of involvement with Imperial Intelligent beyond the casual job here and there, the two have quickly learned that it was probably best to leave well enough alone and keep away from the Imperial Fleet. Unfortunately, that knowledge was learned too late and now the pair are bound to a job and dealing with the repercussions of opening old, closed doors.

Personality Traits

Coarse is probably the best term to explain Xei. She's a rough around the edges sort of woman with a flippant (and sometimes morbid) sense of humor. Given her history, Xei has grown a rather tough exterior. If it's not part of a hunt, it's not worth her time. This includes most inclinations toward any sort of emotional connections.
